Maintains water temp within a 10 degree range so there is less need to adjust at faucet. Ad states "sweat", however item recieved was threaded, requiring sweat adaptors that take up more room. Very happy with product, price was reasonable.

LG : WM2050CW 27 Front Load Washer, 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity - White Review

LG : WM2050CW 27 Front Load Washer, 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity - White

Updated review:
I love this washer! I did a lot of research on front loaders and chose this model over other LG's because it had the features I wanted and was significantly lower in price than similar models. So far I'm very pleased with this machine, which was rated a CR best buy. It was on sale at a local large chain home improvement store, and it qualified for our state's highest Energy Star rebate. We've had none of the problems that I had read about front loaders in the past--no excessive vibration on a wood frame floor, no water hammer noise, no odor, and the low water usage works fine. This machine has the features of similar models (other than the steam washers) except for the internal water heater/sanitize cycle, which I didn't need. It is very easy to use, easy to add options such as extra water or an additional rinse, and easy to change the wash/rinse temps, soil level, spin speed, etc. of the pre-set cycles. It has a stain cycle which I've not needed to use yet. You can also customize a cycle with your favorite options and save it. It holds a lot of clothes, gets them very clean, and is quiet. I thought our clothes were clean with the old washer, but this one cleans better, removing lots of what I had thought were permanent stains. I have yet to load it to capacity; our loads usually show only 2 of 4 possible bars. A queen blanket and lightweight coverlet and a couple of bath towels also filled it only about halfway. The cycles run longer than my old top loader, as all front loaders do. Most cycles are running between 53-73 minutes. (In my original review I had erroneously said 113 minutes; it was actually 1 hour 13 minutes, or 73 minutes.) It also has a quick wash cycle for lightly soiled items. Uses very little HE detergent and a tiny amount of bleach (I use 1 tablespoon of Charlie's Soap powdered detergent) because it uses so little water. We would recommend this washer to anyone. The matching gas dryer works very well, too. I wanted the pedestals but didn't want to pay the outrageous price for them. I've found that sitting on a stepstool or chair to unload the machines works fine for me, so I don't miss the pedestals.
Although this washer has a hot water wash option, and hot water does go into the machine, there is such a small amount of water circulating through room temperature clothes and a huge room temperature steel tub that the water cools off to just warm almost immediately. I don't know if the models with internal heaters keep it hot or not. But the machine cleans very well anyway, so this isn't a problem for me.
Some added info- For those who have had the odor/mildew problems in a front loader: In researching front loaders, the odor issues so common a few years ago were often caused by detergent and fabric softener residues that build up in the outer tub. Bleach kills bacteria but does not dissolve these residues. To prevent this, use only about half the recommended amount of HE detergent, or use a HE detergent that doesn't have any additives or residues to accumulate. (The "green" detergents such as Charlie's Soap are the ones that usually don't have any residues.) Also, don't use liquid fabric softener as it leaves lots of residue in clothes and the washer. We've had absolutely no problem in this machine.

Samsung WF330ANW 4.3 cu. Ft. High Efficiency Front-Load Washer - White Review

Samsung WF330ANW 4.3 cu. Ft. High Efficiency Front-Load Washer - White
Average Reviews:

This machine doesn't have the annoying buzzer that our last machine did. It chimes. At first the dial with all the buttons was intimidating and I thought I would have to read the manual from cover to cover just to run it. However, I soon found out after turning it on how really user friendly it was. It even alarmed letting me know that it's hot water hose was crimped. Sure enough the hose was crimped and after getting it straightened out it was good to go again. It is really easy to pause the cycle too. This machine uses very little water and is very quiet so if your like me you may think something is wrong with it and sit with a flashlight looking in watching in amazement. You can really cram a lot in it and it all come out clean, and unlike top loaders it uses less soap and won't mess your bras up around a central spindle.

Seisco 22 Kw Electric Micro Boiler (75,080 Btu) for Hydronic Space Heating Review

Seisco 22 Kw Electric Micro Boiler (75,080 Btu) for Hydronic Space Heating
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As others have said, this company and products should be completeley avoided. We are residential builders and installed two Seisco units in a home we built. Circuit board for one unit had to be replaced within months of install.
Now a few years later the circuit boards for both units have failed and customer serivce says they will not have another circuit board to send us for a week. That means no hot water for the home and residents for a week or more. Simply unbelievable.
They do not take their business seriously it seems and when we have tried to contact David Seitz, the designer and apparent owner of the company, he has never responded. Years ago there were only a few manufacturers that made whole house electric units. Now there are many more and most of the large companies have product offerings. If you are dead set on using an electric on-demand unit our advice is to stick with a large company and prferably a known brand.
Needless to say we will never buy products from them again.

LG : LDF6920ST Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Stainless Steel Review

LG : LDF6920ST Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this stainless steel dishwasher about a month ago. I loved the look and the price, along with its touted quality. After many uses, however, I am not very impressed. I hope that with a different detergent I will get better results.
Pros:
-it's pretty.
-you can put a lot of plates in it.
-it's very quiet.
-it has lots of timing options.
-it has a cool sounding ding when you press the buttons (which are hidden: an added pro).
-price, considering its appearance.
-built-in garbage disposal. (I do feel that this is somewhat misleading, since if you put your dishes in with that much food on them, the likelihood of them coming out clean is low.)
Cons:
-I have only used one detergent in it (Electrasol Advanced), but have repeated trouble with unclean dishes, even when using the power scrub setting. Granted, I am putting knives coated in peanut butter in the dishwasher, but considering the brand and price, I think this is not unreasonable. The knives generally come out streaky and I have to scrub them and rewash. Ceramic plates seem to come out fine (plastic children's ones not so much, for some reason - more caked-on PB?), but I have trouble with cutlery and anything that had food stuck to it.
-the top rack does not adjust.
-the bottom rack, when pulled out all the way (like "normal" all the way, not "on the floor" all the way), ALWAYS comes off track and you have to fight with it to get it back in the dishwasher. This is perhaps my biggest pet peeve about this dishwasher.
-when opened, the handle rests on the floor. Mildly annoying, except when your foot happens to be in its path.
-due to the poor wash quality, I almost always have to use the power scrub setting.
-it seems that the wash cycle takes FOREVER. I realize I am using the power scrub setting, but really. My old Kenmore did not take nearly as long, and cleaned better. I can't believe I am saying this about a Sears product.

Aube by Honeywell TH140-28-01-B/U Hydronic Heating 7-Day Programmable Thermostat
Average Reviews:

The thermostat works great (bought three). It is quick to install and works on low-voltage and two wire line volt baseboard heaters. Only drawback is the loud click when the thermostat turns on or off but the sound is easy to get used to (so long as it is set to 15 minute intervals instead of 5). The unit is very slim and the faceplate is easy to remove from the wall mount for quick programming of a few side by side. The mounting (all electrical wires are hidden) is only the size of a light switch and would be easy to paint around.
Overall very satisfied and shipping was 1 1/2 weeks from US to Canada and well worth the wait.

Sylvania SA300 40 Amp 120-Volt Single-Pole Zip Set Industrial Timer Review

Sylvania SA300 40 Amp 120-Volt Single-Pole Zip Set Industrial Timer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What was not clear to me when I bought this product was that it does not turn off at Sunrise. Basically the way it works is that it will turn on at Sunset. You then have to tell it how many hours you want it to stay on after Sunset. This means the lights are either staying on too long or not long enough. It does not have the ability to turn off at Sunrise. I wish I knew this before I purchased. I would recommend if you want something that turns off at Sunrise to get the Aube by Honeywell TI044/U Solar Programmable Timer. The only plus for the Sylvania is that you only need to enter in your area code. Other ones you need to know you latitude and longitude.

GenTran 301060 PowerStay 30 Amp Manual Transfer Switch Review

GenTran 301060 PowerStay 30 Amp Manual Transfer Switch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I installed this Manual Transfer Switch to power my homes critical circuits the correct way without risk of electrocuting the power company repair man. I like the way this unit is designed, it comes prewired with with the plenty of instructions that make sense if you take a little time to think them through. If you can't figure the instructions out, call a pro. Anyway, the switch has two load meters that are very helpful once you are powering your house through the transfer switch panel from your generator. The meters tell you how close you are to your generators limits. I found the installation straightforward and logical. I'm happy with the purchase. This can be a DIY if you understand what is going on in the circuit breaker panel, load/wire gauge code requirements, etc..

Reliance Controls TF151W Easy/Tran Single-Circuit 15 Amp Furnace Generator Transfer Switch For Up To 1875 Watt Generators Review

Reliance Controls TF151W Easy/Tran Single-Circuit 15 Amp Furnace Generator Transfer Switch For Up To 1875 Watt Generators
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the simplest and cheapest device to easily enable connection of a generator to your house (short of just disconnecting the wires and attaching them directly to your generator--not really recommended in the panic of the moment in a power outage). It is used on one circuit only--a 15 amp one. The obvious circuit to use it on is for your furnace (forced air or, like me, hot-water radiators). If you have a long power outage in the winter, you can run your furnace from time to time to prevent the house from freezing.
I plan to use as a "generator" a 12 volt power inverter. This generates 120 volts from my car battery. If you get a big enough one (maybe 300 or 1000 watts max) it will sustain the brief initial "transient" surge of power needed to get an electric motor going. The actual power needed after than initial surge is pretty low. It is probably best to run the car's engine while doing this, at least for that initial transient, so as to be sure to have full power. This method worked on my old furnace and I expect it to work on my new one.
With a power inverter one can avoid the hassle, expense, smell, gasoline-storage hazard, and pollution of a gasoline generator that one almost never needs to use.
The instructions assume you will be connecting this switch to your main fuse box. But I found that it's more convenient to connect it on the line leading to your furnace--a method shown in illustration on the box but not detailed in the instructions. Use great care to be sure to wire it up correctly.

The Reliance Controls single-circuit 15 Amp furnace transfer switch is designed for use with generators with 15 Amp power outlets. It controls a single circuit, such as a forced-air furnace, in the event of a power failure, connecting it to a portable generator. The attached 18-inch flexible aluminum conduit is pre-wired and allows the unit to be easily connected at the circuit breaker panel, the furnace, or at any point in between. It can be used on any 15 Amp 120-volt forced-air furnace circuit. Simply plug a standard grounded extension cord into a power outlet on your generator and into the built-in plug on the transfer switch. It includes an indicator light, which illuminates the area around its switch during a power outage. This unit is UL listed and is covered by a 5-year limited warranty.

Milwaukee 6523-21 Super Sawzall 13 Amp Reciprocating Saw with Rotating Handle Review

Milwaukee 6523-21 Super Sawzall 13 Amp Reciprocating Saw with Rotating Handle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just took delivery of the beauty pictured below. I'm not a professional, I'm just a tool-obsessed DIYer.
I have only used one other reciprocating saw -a Craftsman 2-speed unit. This Sawzall is, to say the least, a world apart from the Craftsman. First of all, some things I really like about it:
1. SMOOTH. The counterbalance on this thing is amazing. There is very little vibration when it's running free. In orbital mode you can feel a slight vibration owing to the fact that the vertical component of motion is not counterbalanced. Nevertheless, even in orbital mode this saw transmits less vibration into my hands than my truck does at 65 MPH on the highway.
2. The "Cord Lock" feature. I didn't really think this would be worth much, but it turns out its quite convenient. You insert and remove the cord by twisting it to lock/unlock it. Plus it comes with a 10' cord; much longer than most power tools.
3. 13 amps of destruction. That's a ton of power. Note that Makita makes a 15-amp model now, so it's only a matter of time before Milwaukee upgrades to 15 amp (probably about a month after I've had the one I just bought :rolleyes'.
4. Clutch protection for the drivetrain. If you suddenly lock up the blade the clutch protects the innards from grenading.
Things I don't like (so far):
1. The plastic shoe adjustment lock (noted in the second picture). This is very thin plastic. Fortunately it's also very flexible, so it's not brittle at all. But I feel this part would be better in aluminum. I've written Milwaukee to suggest this.
Things I'm neutral about:
1. Extensive use of plastic. This thing only weighs about 10 lb, which is great. Unfortunately this weight savings is achieved mostly using plastic. The entire rotating handle is plastic. Don't get me wrong, this tool is metal in the most important parts (motor and gear case), but I'd like to see a nice aluminum or magnesium handle. I don't fault Milwaukee for this, because everyone's making their tools this way now. I don't think there are any all-metal tools left on the market.
2. The 360 degree rotating handle. This thing has the potential to be really convenient, but I haven't used the saw enough yet to form a worthwhile opinion on whether this feature is worth the additional cost (about $10 extra).
I'd like to note that when I first took it out the orbital selector was very difficult to operate. So difficult, in fact, I thought it was defective. It wouldn't be so bad if there was more than just a tiny nub to grab onto. After using the saw for a bit, it did loosen up and it's much easier to slide now.
Also, the saw is built very "tight" from the factory, and the speed variation through the trigger was a little "clunky" for the first 25% of trigger pull. I'm happy to report after using it for a bit that it breaks in nicely and things operate smoother now. It makes sense that it needs to be broken in; I don't think they run them very long at the factory.
Nowhere on this tool is it indicated where it's made. I did finally locate, in small text at the bottom of the cardboard packaging, a line that read "Made in USA". I discovered that Milwaukee was recently (2005) bought by a Chinese company, TTI (Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd.) This brought on intense fear that my beloved Milwaukee might be [gulp] Made in China! I called Milwaukee and asked and they assured me the tool was made in Jackson, MI. It's amazing how rare it is for a power tool to be made in the US anymore.
Cutting performance is, as expected, stellar. Vibration level is very low. I tried the saw out by cutting up an old water heater. Sliced around the circumference with no effort. Then I cut vertically down the entire length of the heater in 2 places. "The Torch" blade that was included was dull 25% through the second vertical run, which really slowed progress. When those Milwaukee blades are sharp, though, look out!
I can't adequately describe how awesome it is to work with such a quality tool. I'm sure the offerings from Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, and Porter-Cable are also great saws, but there's a certain satisfaction in owning one made by the company that invented it.

Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier - 7135 Review

Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier - 7135
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this to humidify my kids room. Previously we had been using the old vick vaporizer but it only put out for about 6 hours and had some other issues with getting the mineral content of the water just right.
Anyway this is without a doubt the best humidfier I've ever used. Setup was a little confusing at first (where little parts went. The tube hole through the tank was a little disconcerting but after I understood its function I saw it wasn't going to slosh water everywhere.
For a humidfier it has a amazing number of options.
Warm Mist vs Cool
I had always used "warm mist" but my wife wanted "cool mist", this was the only one that had both. Warm and cool are relative terms however. When I think of warm mist I think of the Vicks which can scald you if you get to close. It heats the room up in operation. This device the warm mist is sort of warm. It takes a few minutes to warm up and if you put your hand over the output you can feel its warm but not hot. It goes to warm by pre-heating the water before it hits the vaporizer. In cool mist it just vaporizes.
Output-
You have two output controls, relative humidity and mist volume for lack of a better term. Think of it as fan speed (but no fan)You set the humidity and it spits out water as needed. I don't know where the sensor is but the position of the output nozzel can really affect its reading.
The tank seems to hold enough water for 24 hours of output or 2-3 nights of use. The output is plenty adequate for a bedroom.
Controls-
Lots of controls on/off, heat/no heat, humidity, output, timer, auto mode and more. This is the big difference betwen this and the lower end model. Someone finally figured out how to put a timer on a humidifier (imagine that). So it runs as many hours as you set it. The sleep mode sets all settings automatically and runs 8 hours. I love it.
Noise-
What noise, this thing is silent. No bubbling or hissing or fan noises.
Filling the tank-
Take it out, flip it, unscrew the deminerlization cartridage and fill er up. Not the most stable but it works. Carry handle makes it easy to take back.
Its everything you could possibaly want in a humidifier. Low maintence, easy enough to fill, quite, lots of settings for any need.
Beats the heck out of the old vicks and some fan based whicking mold catching filter units I've used. The closet thing I ever had was a drugstore one that spit out the good stuff for 15 minutes and then broke. This is a quality product (and price) and should last (I've had it 2 weeks at the time of writing). It may be expensive but it does what you want and will outlast many of the others. If you've got the money its worth it.

Bought this hottub to put in my apartment (new complex). I have a pretty bad back and this makes it feel great. I've had it for about a month now and love it. Like one other reviewer said, it's not a toy, it's a real hottub. My friends are amazed that I have this huge thing in my apartment.
It fits comfortably 2 people. Sure you can fit 4 in, but unlike most hottubs, your legs just lay out, so with two people you can move your legs in opposite directions, 4 people is a little tricky. Usually with 4 people in it everyone knees and it's fine. Still very comfortable.
Water height, perfect! I can sit down on my butt and the water is basically past my chin. Sit on the knees and it's still at a fine height. No need to worry about going into a kiddy pool. You'd have to fill this half-way to even get a toddler to stand up in this without drowning.
You can definitely feel the jets and they go 95% around the hottub (they stop where the filter is). They're not your typical hottub jets, it's another inflatable-like compartment with holes in it and the air blows through it, but it still feels nice and gets the water moving good.
I paid about [...] + tax + shipping, all in all about [...] and well worth it. I use it almost every day and I'll be in it for hours.
The only problems I have really had with it are I've broken several of the straps that hold the cover on it (inflatable cover with material cover to hold it down), but it's not that big of a deal. I guess I just had the cover inflated too much.
Second Problem is the heater will show 102degrees, and I turn the filter on and it will jump right up to 104 and not heat, any lower than 102 degrees and it heats up fine. I have a thermometer in the water than averages 102degrees.
To fill it up I bought a Fill Adapter that connects from my sink to a garden hose and just run that over and into the tub. Works beautifully. (Water coming from the sink = hot water and no wait for it to heat up) Be careful though because when I first filled it I had the water too hott and it was 112degrees (WAY TOO HOTT, I couldn't get my foot in)
(Note: Ebay Fill Adapter is a cheap product, I replaced the cheap plastic adapter with a metal one from Lowes, 15/16" Female to 3/4" garden hose, and then the 15/16" male adapter to add on, ran me about $[...])
All in all it's a great tub for the money. I highly suggest it and the fun I have outweighs the two little problems!
Had trouble finding filters, but the PBW5 from spa-daddy.com works fine!

HBB504 Electric Hydronic Baseboard Heater - 240 Volts - 500 Watts Review

HBB504 Electric Hydronic Baseboard Heater - 240 Volts - 500 Watts

The heater itself seems well-made and runs well and heats nicely. It's quiet and retains heat. We replaced an older hydronic unit that died, and this is working well so far.
One big advantage to this unit if you are replacing an old one is the fact that this one can be wired from either the left or right end -- wherever the wire already is. This was probably the biggest selling point for this heater, as we were replacing an old Isotherm (now Cadet) that was wired on the right -- the new Cadets are wired only on the left and we didn't want to have to deal with the complication.
The color is called "Navajo White" and the pictures look fairly white. In reality, the color is more of a light taupe. This was fine for our decor, but don't expect a true white or even an off-white.
When ordering, note that you must also order a thermostat -- there are ones that go on the end of the unit, ones that go on the wall, and ones that go on the wall and will control several baseboard heaters in one room. If you are replacing an existing heater and don't want to either fish wires or do drywall work, be sure to get the type that goes on the end of the unit. Whatever type you get, you must install the thermostat yourself -- it does not come pre-installed.
I'll preface my installation comments by saying that we are typical homeowners, not contractors or otherwise in the building trades. It was the first time my husband did a project like this, but he's reasonably handy. First off, the installation instructions that are included are hard to follow -- they assume a level of expertise we didn't have. However, on the QMark (Marley) web site, if you go to Heaters/HBB Baseboard Heaters, they have a much better .pdf file with photos of all the wiring. It still isn't perfect, but it's a lot better. My husband also commented that calling the junction box "roomy" is a matter of opinion, and while he found it tight, it was sufficient.
The biggest problem is mounting the unit to the wall. You must drill through the back of the heater (the holes are not predrilled) and then screw the heater to the wall (into studs). It's hard to do this without bending the fins on the heater (it's not catastrophic, but better for heat distribution if they're not bent). As every installation is somewhat different, screws are not included -- depending on your application, you may need screws, molly bolts, masonry screws or something else. Be sure to get these before starting the installation.
Also note that you'll need several wire nuts -- you can get them while waiting for the shipment. You need at least two of the type for connecting 2 wires.
It took Dave about 5 hours to install the heater, from unboxing it and removing the old heater to having the new one heating the room. He used a thermostat that went right on the heater. Admittedly, his total time included just under an hour to go buy some wire nuts. If you are more experienced in this type of project, it would probably take less time.
Overall, we're happy with the heater and would buy it again.

Honeywell CT50K1028/E Low Temperature / Garage Non-Programmable Thermostat Review

Honeywell CT50K1028/E Low Temperature / Garage Non-Programmable Thermostat
Average Reviews:

I got this thermostat to use with a Mr. Heater 45,000 BTU gas heater from Northern Tool. The thermostat that was offered as an accessory with the heater had a range of 50-90 degrees. I want my garage just above freezing most of the time. I'll turn it up when working in it. The Honeywell Low Temperature Garage thermostat is good match for my heater. I've found it makes a big difference on how much the heater runs with the thermostat set at 35 or 50, so this thermostat will save a lot of gas. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the temperature scale is in a kind of compromise location between the thermometer needle and the temperature setting lever, and doesn't quite make sense with either of them.

Great price on item. I could not find one that even came close anywhere online or stores. As far as product reliability, it works well so far but time will tell on how long it lasts
